Earthworks exhibition at Fabrica is now open to the public until 22 November 2020.
This is Fabrica's first public exhibition since the pandemic and they are pleased to announce that they are open and welcoming visitors back, with social distancing measures in place.
Earthworks is an animated moving image and sound installation depicting the phenomena of landscape formation by artist duo Semiconductor. The work compresses hundreds of thousands of years of geological time into less than twelve minutes. Masses of colourful layers are animated by the soundscapes of earthquake, volcanic, glacial and human activity, recorded as seismic waves, which form spectacular fluctuating marbled waveforms across a 20 metre screen that zig-zags through the space taking over the entire gallery. Earthworks makes tangible the immense natural forces captured by seismic data and tackles the way in which geological and human processes are inextricably linked in the Anthropocene.
Wednesday: 1pm - 6pm
Saturday: 1pm - 6pm
Sunday: 2pm - 6pm
Fabrica are able to provide small group visits, and in November they will be able to offer private tours to individuals or small groups who may be unable to access the exhibition during public opening times for health reasons or otherwise.
